Job Description

The Resident Assistant Program at VinUni supports residents in cultivating a meaningful living - learning community and fostering student leadership where residents develop life and interpersonal skills, self-responsibility, and an appreciation for diversity.

Resident Assistants (RAs) are student leaders who work on-campus residence halls who work closely with other Residential Life staffs to provide residents with a sense of community while serving as positive role models and commit to the enhancement of the quality of residential life at VinUni. RAs are responsible for building and facilitating a positive and effective community that support the mission, vision, and values of VinUni.

Working schedule: Resident Assistants will be assigned a weekly schedule by the dormitory manager, working up to 15 hours per week, up to maximum 60 hours per month with the following conditions:

  • Resident Assistants will work closely with the Director of Student Affairs Office, Residential Manager, members of Student Affairs Office and Faculty in Residence.
  • Resident Assistants will serve a one-semester term with the possibility of renewal for an additional term subject to a successful review by the Student Affairs team and the Residential
  • Resident Assistants will reside in the assigned dorm with other They are required to be present on campus during their terms.
  • Resident Assistants should keep in mind that students at VinUni can only have one job on campus at a time and Resident Assistant is considered an on-campus job.

Main duties: Resident Assistant works as a support staff to Residential Office and Faculty in Residence with the following tasks

  • Assist in the supervision of the residence hall, responding to all requests and emergencies during duty hours.
  • Enforce the rules and policies of the residence life department, share information about resident hall policy and procedure, campus activities on residence board, social media or in person to residents.
  • Contact the appropriate Residence Life administrator on behalf of the residents regarding issues of concern to the residents, be contact person of residents and available to support on a daily basis.
  • Address issue of intolerance, violations and other types of conflicts, needs or concerns in consultation with Office of Residential Life.

Additional responsibilities: Resident Assistant works to contribute to the residential community through a variety of educational events and engaging activities

  • Facilitate development of community by creating opportunities for residents to interact; engage residents to activities or relevant topics to diverse community needs.
  • Collect and contribute the idea of decoration, get approval and be responsible to decorate the residence hall in different occasions, such as beginning of semester, Halloween, Tet
  • Make plan, lead and manage to organize events/ activities at residence on regular basis, promote the events/activities to have as much as possible the involvement, engagement of
  • Relate well to individuals of all ethnic, racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds, encouraging better understanding of cultural diversity and individual differences on the floor and in the residence hall.

  • Possess strong organizational and interpersonal
  • Possess experience in organizing student activities and community
