As a Control Engineer, you will model, design, implement, test and benchmark motor control strategies of current and future EDS. You enhance performance and quality of EDS simulation models as well as validate simulation results through measurements. You establish EDS simulation platform and maintain EDS models, creating simulink-based digital twins of current and future EDS. You work closely with software, hardware and testing team to calibrate the motor control function in laboratories and in vehicle. You define EDS system test cases to verify motor control strategies/calibration. You are responsible for hardware and software integration, ensuring EDS design goals are met.
- Hardware and software integration. Guide an interdisciplinary team to ensure correct implementation of EDS functionalities
- Coordinate different teams (internal and external) to perform in-vehicle calibration as well as issue troubleshooting in laboratory and in vehicle.
- EDS simulation platform management and maintenance
- Design and develop control algorithms for EDS, including torque control, speed control, dynamic response optimization and other functionalities
- Analyze simulation results and measurement data to identify issues and technical opportunities to enhance EDS performance, safety and reliability
- Collaborate closely with hardware and software engineers to integrate EDS control strategies
- Design, test and calibrate e-motor control algorithms in laboratory (HiL, Power-HiL), dynamo testbed system, and in-vehicle, focus on R&D of control algorithms for traction inverters
- Specify requirements for EDS at system level. Coordinate and work together with HW and SW team to develop EDS from concept to end product
- Conduct simulation studies using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink to validate control algorithms and system performance
- Implement and validate control strategies on prototype and production EDS, ensuring adherence to performance and regulatory requirements
- Create tools and toolchain to enhance working efficiency regarding modelling, simulation, measurement data processing, software build
- Troubleshoot and debug control system issues throughout the development lifecycle, from concept to production
- Participate in design reviews, providing expertise in control system design and integration
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in EDS technology and control systems to drive innovation and continuous improvement
- Strong fundamentals of AC electric motors and drive systems analysis, modeling and control
Requirements
- Bachelor/Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems or a related field
- Minimum 02 years of experience in the similar role
- Proven experience in developing control algorithms for electric motors (PSM, EESM, IM), preferably within the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and familiarity with software tools for control system design and simulation.
- Familiarity with common programming languages: C/C++, C#, python. Familiarity with CI/CD and version control systems (GIT, SVN).
- Strong understanding of e-motor control principles such as field-oriented control (FOC), MTPA, MTPV and state-space techniques.
- Strong background in motor control theory (linear, nonlinear systems, controller design approaches), power electronics, and battery systems.
- Strong background in data processing and analysis.
- Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and diagnostic tools.
- Experience in model-based development of automotive software components with HIL Real-Time validation
- Prior experience with flux estimation methods, 3-phase power control, analytical control system theory development and analysis
