JOB DESCRIPTION

1. POSITION SUMMARY

The Resident Assistant (RA) plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, supportive, and well-structured living environment within the campus dormitory. Under the guidance of the Dorm Manager and working alongside Faculty & Staff in Residence (FSiR), the RA handles day-to-day residence monitoring, policy enforcement, conflict mediation, and operational communication across student rooms.

2. REPORTING & GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

Dorm Manager => Faculty & Staff in Residence (FSiR) - Dorm Board / Voting Authority => Resident Assistants (RAs) => Room Leaders

-      Faculty & Staff in Residence (FSiR): Serve as the senior focal point below the Dorm Manager. FSiRs sit on the Dorm Board, hold formal voting rights on residence governance matters, and possess full authority to handle and decide on disciplinary cases within the dormitory.

-      Resident Assistant (RA): Serves as the operational liaison between residents/room leaders and the FSiR/Dorm Manager hierarchy.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

a. Dormitory & Facility Operations

  • Directly manage operations for assigned floors or building blocks in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Schedule and conduct routine room inspections (3 times/week per room) to ensure cleanliness, safety standards, and curfew compliance.
  • Develop checklists and shift schedules to monitor common areas; regularly report findings to Dormitory Management.
  • Supervise and monitor the operational status and usage of outdoor sports facilities.

b. Policy Compliance & Student Conduct

  • Conduct regular and unannounced room checks to identify and confiscate items listed under prohibited categories.
  • Enforce the Code of Conduct; document and report policy violations to Management for disciplinary review and action.

c. Student Support & Communication

  • Manage shift duties across official communication channels to address student inquiries, requests, and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Act as the primary liaison between students and the technical support team for maintenance requests.
  • Communicate official notices, policy updates, and news accurately and promptly across student communication channels.

d. Community Building & Engagement

  • Co-create, plan, and execute internal dormitory events and activities.

Foster an inclusive, cohesive, and vibrant residential community to enhance the overall student living experience.
